Football will be back on June 17th in England. The excitement is a huge as ever.
Here how things were left at when football stopped:
It is no secret anymore; Liverpool will finally be crowned English champions.
Unless Manchester City or Leicester pull an extraordinary comeback, which is very unlikely to happen (Liverpool are 6 points away from being crowned), The Reds’ challenge will be to break City’s 100 points records.
The challenge will not be the hardest ever as they only need 19 points to break the record, with 9 games in hand.
The situation here is a bit confusing. Will City play Champions League football next season or will they not? Court of Arbitration for Sport still have to dictate their decision.
Although the situation is confusing, it becomes very interesting when we roll out City of their Champions League spot (which they seem to have already booked it in case they regain their right to play it next season).
No City means Leicester, Chelsea AND United are so far the teams to represent England in Champions League next season.
Both Chelsea and United are still a bit away from being safe. With only 8 points separating Chelsea (3rd) and Arsenal (9th), everything is still possible.
However, two of the first games are City-Arsenal and Tottenham-United, these 2 games will be a ‘’to be or not to be’’ games for the Londoners.
Sheffield United seem to be the underdogs here. On the other hand, how can they be considered underdogs when they are only 3 points away from United and have also one game in hand?
The competition is as hot as ever, we might as well be speaking of a Big-9 this season in England! Everything can still happen, stay tuned!
6 teams are in danger, 3 of them will play Championship football next season. Norwich were sensational when they defeated City at the beginning of the season, but they seem closer to relegation than saving themselves. Unless they pull a Leicester 2015, the odds are so far against them.
All 6 teams will have to level up, raise their game and believe in their chances. English football is full of surprises and we might just as well witness some of them during this end of season.
